Concrete Surfaces
The largest type of substrate in industry is concrete. Raw concrete needs protecting against dusting, damage from heavy machines and chemical attack. Our wide range of safety surfacing materials provide answers to your problems. Large areas can be treated with our EPOXICOTE range. Heavy duty areas need our SAFESTEP epoxy system, and special areas such as fork truck ramps use EPOXO. Certain small areas can be treated with our self adhesive SAFESTEP TAPES

All these materials are slip/skid resistant and withstand a wide range of chemicals and hydrocarbons. They protect both your floor and your personnel.

Preparation of concrete surfaces.
Careful preparation is vital. Floors must be degreased, free of loose or flaking material and dry. New concrete needs to be fully cured and laitance removed before treatment. Our technical department are happy to give advice on your requirements.

Steel and Aluminium Surfaces
Corrosion protection is essential for both steel and aluminium. These surfaces can become slipping, and skidding hazards. Even chequer plate and durbar patterns, wear and become slippery. Our SAFESTEP epoxy resin system has a 2 pack epoxy metal primer, and an epoxy top coat with a diamond hard carborundum aggregate encapsulated in the resin. We have an acid etching primer for aluminium surfaces, which provides a key onto the very slick aluminium finish. For heavy duty areas our EPOXO systems are recommended. Originally produced for marine deck use, this product is in service on a number of Royal Navy warships and on North Sea drilling platforms. Certain small areas, such as steps can be treated with our self adhesive SAFESTEP TAPES

Preparation of Steel Surfaces
Degrease; grit blast to SA2.5 standard using a Blastrac or similar unit. Prime with Epoxo Metal Primer.

Preparation of Aluminium surfaces
Degrease; remove any loose or flaking materials, ensure surface is dry, primer with our acid etching primer.

Tiled Surfaces
Probably the most durable of all surfaces tiles are nearly always hazardous when wet.
TRUSTY STEP is a micro etching system (not a coating) it etches tiny sharp micro peaks into the tile surface. This profile is semi-permanent and may need re-profiling after approx 6-8 years of service. Our system is widely used throughout industry, and commerce. It is relatively inexpensive and fast to install. Floors can be opened for immediate use after treatment. After installation our TRUSTY CLEAN MAINTAINER will keep the micro-etch profile operating at maximum efficiency.

Preparation of Tiled Surfaces
Before TRUSTY STEP is installed, clean tiles with TRUSTY CLEAN if possible use a power scrubber vac unit, ensure all grease and impacted dirt is removed.

Timber Surfaces
Timber can also become a slipping hazard. Some chemicals and indeed water can damage timber. The principal requirement is to seal timber against ingress of moisture. Our EPOXICOTE systems are recommended. Not only can the timber be sealed and protected, but EPOXICOTE has an embedded diamond hard carborundum aggregate to provide a slip resistant surface.

Some timbers produce natural resins that need to be sealed in by using a shellac varnish before installing EPOXICOTE. It is also important to seal any exposed edges of timber as moisture will enter the timber more easily along exposed edges. Some
limited areas can be treated with our self adhesive SAFESTEP TAPES, which provide and instant slip-resistant surface.

Preparation of Timber Surfaces
Remove and loose or flaking material, ensure that timber is completely dry, and free of any grease or oil deposits. Green timber must be fully cured before any coatings are applied, and resinous timbers sealed with a shellac.
